temple tour.

Each week, we have days off from teaching English and we get to explore the area. A couple weekends ago, we went to a temple up on a mountain. On our way there, we rode in the song tao and got to see some more of Thailand's scenery. When we got there, we saw little girls and boys dressed in hill tribe attire at the bottom of the stairs to the temple area. This little girl (pictured above) was one of many who were asking for money in exchange for a photograph. Once we arrived at the top of the stairs, there were temples, Buddhist people burning incense, girls dancing, and boys playing instruments. It was sad to stand outside the temple, watching the Buddhist people following these rituals and bringing offerings, without realizing that these things will never make them 'good' enough. Our works can't save us. Only Jesus can and we want all Thai people to know this truth.

After this, we kept exploring and saw a couple of beautiful waterfalls. At one of the waterfalls there was a 'natural waterslide.' Some of us girls decided to hike down and slide off the waterfall! It was fun to plunge into the natural water pools. It was so amazing to be in nature and see God's beautiful creation.
